So I have noted In The past approximately six months that alpha and beta linene exhibit very different characteristics and represent very different characteristic profiles. While both Pinenes are representatively characteristic of Sativa, so seeing them in high levels one will usually be presuming a sativa dominance or strong presence in an indica profile maybe slightly indica. When, these sativa characteristics to break through at levels of indiva that maintain indica therapeutics, many refer to them as highly medicinal strains. These are those that have an indica dominant profile for example, but exhibit a range of minor cannabinids. Indicas typically exhibit CBGA with about 1/3 of that percentage in CBG.
The mote sativa influence on a strain there is varying ways it can be expressed noted by tepology. The first way is not as obvious and is apparent only to those with knowledge of other profiles and a slight understanding of evolutoonary terpological protocol and that is the diminishment of indica characteristic terpenes. Beta caryophyllene for example, is characteristic in that form of Beta cary. Of indica cannabis. Linalopl, humbleness and limoneme are terpenes that support indica characteristic. When sativa comes through it can show itself in a stronger indica lean by diminishing the levels of supporting terpenes. This can also be noted by lower CBg levels with a presence of Cbda for example.
It's not uncommon for alongside the diminished indica characteristc Terpenes and minor cannabinoids cbda can pop in, this is representing the lower side of sativa intrusions to an indica dom. Profile. A great example and one that even represents my understanding and application of evolutionary aspects is Gorilla Glue No 4 the blend my local cannabis company Hrow West recently pushed out.
This version of gg4 was nothing special, but the evolutionary aspect of the climate of the parents heirloom genetics cones into play in this mountain grown gorilla.glue. Chocolate diesel, sour Dubbs and chess sister all have significant satica contributions to their profiles, and asiatisativas as wellas himilayan OG genetics as well ainidca but were concerned with sativa expression. Where we live is a nearly identical climate and weather in summer as the tropical of these heirloom genetics of asiatic Tropics.
The strai. Came off as dominant IN TERPINOLENE, which is an axiomatic terpene therapeutically and is characteristically representative in terpologu of sativa dominance with higher dominant.levels. one has to keep in mind the categorization of terpenes using terpological protoc when doing these discernment, primary aka do.inant,, secondary and tertiary. There's Importent reason for this splitting and layer may branch out the whole concept of terpology as a whole, say if tertiary terps were presented at higher levels than the singularly dominant terpene.
I have yet to go there. So we hav_yýNM lle terpinolene dominance which was at .844% in flower. The cannabis had a hard berry meringue aroma reminiscent of terpinolene, similar to blue shark and those type smells, strawberry ksuh is another with a familiar aroma like this. We see diminished supportive indica terpenes all the way through.
Linaloll and humbleness both pertinent to indicas, appear at less than the limit of quantization, meaning they are there just not at significant enough levels to be measured. We then see the beginnings of sativa intrusion into the expression on minor cannabinoids by taking cbg to less than LOQ and cbda at the same. So. while that level indicates a decrease In CbG as per the typical Gorilla Glue 4 aka GG4 aka The original Glue it simultaneously indicates an increase or rather the presence of at a measurable level CBDa. The weed even seems a slight fluffier than typical and has absolutely no glue deasel like aroma at all. The sativa comes through heavily. This is IMo and according to the evolutionary aspect of terpology because ornrelated to the fact this was grown in a climate a envirmoent similar to the heiloom genetics.
Rather than taking the less natural manipulated course of action the plant did the natural plant thing and took the path of least resistance, by expressing itself according to the dativa favorable conditoons. Its as if the plant has a genetic memory bank and the sinilar climate guves it home sickness so it makes some flowers to remind itself of home. This is sativa characteristic expression, but it appears in a straib That is defined by it's genetics and the structure of the plant and buds as an approximately 60/40 indica dom hybrid.
This is a prime example of when my application of my terpological protocol, methodology I have developed alone over the past 2 years is more useful than the industries discernment of hybrid cannabis. This hasn't been possible on the past for marylandsers without confirmation of Analysis which is how I have studied and discerned these factors that I then seek to validate in the industries products.
Now let's LOK TO PINENE since I've briefly described how to aplpy this this thinking. Alpha pinene is characteristically represe.tative in smell and it's impact on the profile of sativa. It is a sharp, pointed, strong, note like the way a sativa develops around tropical evolutionary influences. Think of a tropical animal, colorful, makes wild noises, may smell extreme, everything is neat level, this is the same with cannabis. An indica is bland, plain, Spivey, earthy, woodsy, herbal, possibly pungent (which is directly tied to beta pinene so a bit of a stretch to call indica characteristic) it doesn't have the competition of a sativa, the need to create more expressive terpenes to drive away insects as they're not a prominent in a desert environment with extremeties of temperature.
This is one aspect of evolutionary terpology. The beta pinene tends to be present in indica hybrids and it tends to produce the pungent one gets from indicas when they do get that pungent note. Myrcene and humuleme also contribute significantly to this aroma and taste but without pinene the pungent characteristic wouldn't be notable. Alpha pinene has a sharper and brighter line aroma though.
To Discern an approximate lean on the cannabis strain, one can simply use the ratio of alpha pinene to beta pinene. This is easily expressed in Legendberry Shortcake, which is Sunmeds concentrate of Strawberry Shortcake a cross of the white and white wookie. It is a 75/25 sativa dominant, and this is evidenced in the 1.25% alpha pinene to 0.w5% beta pinene levels. Then applying more of the above and other characteristics of terpologixal protocol one can accurately, arguably moreover than isutrual categorization, Discern the lean and related therapeutic and experiential effect of the strain. This is largely thanks to the fact we all know that terpenes have the greater impact on varied experience in cannabis, while THC simply enhances the level of potential pssycjoativity. For example, myrcene alone proliferated the absorption of THC across the blood brai. Barrier when not paired with a form of beta caryophyllene and is one reason sativas are so patently energizing, at least the asiatic himmalayan dativa, I find sativas south of the equator to be more uplifting g to one's mood less if an energy hit.
So that's how to use pinene to easily understand a strain. It doesn't alway apply as the interaction of the terpenes is the key to this protocol, so it changes slightly but the changes are intuitively understood once the basics of the protocol is understood. So more indica supporting terpenes like beta caryophyllene could indicate a sativa with a relaxing profile, like Blue Dream, so while terpinoleme can do its thing with strains like the Indica Dominant Snoop Dog OG being Dominant in terponolene so too can beta caryophyllene appear in a certain sativa.
Follow me on my Rumble appalachianterpz710 as well as on Locals under the same which I just started and am awaiting g full approval. At which point more involved interpretations like say this would be half of it, will be under the subscribed part of my locals. This is stuff that is not on the internet elsewhere, and it is things I have discerned myself and are not a part of modern Cannabis protocol, quite the opposite. Many of the reviews I choose to do are o. Strains the internet has little on, like when I did snoop dog OG,. It too is a major perfet example of why terpology is more important than discernment based on structure and the current methodology. Which is an indica is shorter, broader leaves, earthy aroma, herbal, woodsy, dense buds on the ends of branches with short stunted darker red ro dark orange pistols, and clear to off white colored more bulbous trickle heads with a very bulbous bud structure. The more elongated and triangulation the bud gets, the more hybridized it is characteristic of, the more bulbous and dense the more indica.
Sativa are tall, bright green, skinny leaves, long lanky structure, buds grow on the stalks of branches not the tips, aerated bud structure, tall and not bushy, potent dank strong bright expressive aromatic profile, powerful aromatic Presence. Sarivas have smaller heads on tricones and can be amber in color ro more off white than clear, the listols are long and scraggly like the lanky keaves and cmbranxhes, and can be lighter orange or even a yellow color. These all hold true across most cannabis, until we start pushing the limits of hybridization.
So terpology is my answer.
